Bajaj today launched two exciting new bikes to extend its portfolio. The portfolio includes bikes for track, street and now for adventure. These are the adventure sports bike which targets youth and young working segments. It is a great city sports bike which is designed to also gear up for long distance weekend rides. It offers world class styling and performance which make it unique from any other competition bike.
At the launch , Mr. Eric Vas, President- Motorcycles Business, Bajaj Auto Ltd., said, “ The Pulsar Adventure Sport series will be delight to young bikers who want to fulfill their need of daily city riding, while at the same time desire to explore our vast and incredible outdoor over the weekends. These new generation bikes are a winning combination of easy handling in traffic and raw brutal power when one needs it. The AS200 and AS150 truly define our customer’s spirit that adventure never stops”
He further commented, “We have always led on product initiatives and have continuously expanded the Pulsar range to cater to the various consumer preference in the Sports segment. The Adventure Sports series will further expand and grow this segment by offering a product which matches up to the new age consumer’s lifestyle and riding requirements”.
At the launch event Managing Director of Bajaj Motorcycles Mr. Rajiv Bajaj was also present he answered many questions of the media person. He said that they are looking at 14 new markets for two wheeler and 12-13 new markets for three wheeler. In one of his response he said that “Pulsar is a milestone not a product”, “Pulsar is a laboratory of continuous innovation”, “Pulsar is a strategy”. When asked about the road accidents of bikers he replied “two wheelers are not the culprits they are the victims”. He said that car is safe for those who sit in it but it not safe for millions of people who are on the road.
Pulsar 150 AS
The bike is powered by 4 valve SOHC, 149.5cc DTS-i engine which delivers the power of 17PS at 9500 rpm and maximum torque of 13NM at 7500rpm. Bajaj claims that this bike has most powerful engine in its segment. The engine has air cooling system. . The bike is equipped with 12 L fuel tank comprising 2.4L reserve which make the long ride hassle free.
For the perfect balance and stability front suspension are made telescopic with anti friction bush and rear are Nitrox mono shock absorbers with canister. The bike has disc brake at the front with the dia of 240 mm and drum brake at the rear with dia of 130mm.
The bike has Alpha –male styling having aerodynamic designing with half fairing and muscular tank. It has got extended touring windscreen to protect the rider from wind blast. The bike has wheelbase of 1363mm which is longest in its segment. It has ground clearance of 170mm and has kerb weight of 143kg. Price- Rs 79,000 (ex-showroom Delhi)
Pulsar 200 AS
Pulsar AS 150 is ignited by twin spark, Pulsar AS 200 is ignited by triple spark . The engine has displacement of 199.5cc and delivers 23.5PS of power at 9,500 rpm. The power delivered is 20-30% more than power delivered by other competitor bikes. AS 200 has liquid cooling system for engine. The engine delivers the torque of 18.3 NM at 8000rpm.
The bike is equipped with same suspension system as that of AS 150. Comparing the brakes, AS 200 has more s T uperior breaking than AS 150. The front disc brake has dia of 280mm where as rear drum brake had dia of 230mm.
The bike has high intensity projector headlamp for superior lightening which make it unique in other 200cc bikes. The bike has same aerodynamic design and dimension as that of AS 150 but the kerb weight of AS 200 is 10 kg more than AS 150.
Both AS 150 and AS 200 are available in three colors: Red, Black and Blue.
