Japan’s third largest automaker Honda recalled more than 2 million vehicles round the world over a defect in the airbag. The recall was for vehicles manufactured over a period of 5 years between August 2000 and December 2005. The recall included 13 popular Honda models.
The airbag defect caused a risk of fire especially the front passenger airbag modules. The automaker said that there is a chance that front passenger airbag inflators could have been assembled with a defectively manufactured propeller component that may cause the container to rupture in the event of a crash creating a risk of fire or injury to the occupants.
